As I take my walks with my dog each day, I often will see different neighbors out and about. It is easy to walk on by and not interact, but recently I have felt that God wants me to be more intentional with my neighbors. So, I have tried to spend a little more time talking and conversing. It is interesting how people come from all over and have these different stories. I wanted to share a few because I thought they were charming:
There are a couple 2 streets down that have a terrier. He likes to bark when my dog and I walk by. I was able to talk with the wife and hear the funny story of how she planted her garden of sunflowers.
At the corner of my street, there is a man who loves gardening. He has been slowly doing work in his front yard to make an English style garden. He owned a theater company in New York for 20 years.
A family lives close by, I believe they are from Indonesia. Their daughter told me that they have a dog. Upon further clarification, her mom informed me that she does not have a dog but wants one instead.
A couple down the road has a blind dog which they rescued 10 yaers ago. He is a happy boy even though he can’t see.
Just small little moments and stories. It makes me marvel at how we’ve all ended up in this neighborhood at this moment in time. I am hopeful that God will continue to open doors for us to chat and share life together.
